The Bridge of Sighs is a connecting Bridge to an old prison, prisoners usually had their glimpse of Venice before being escorted to their cell, hence the name.
This painting depicts the constant stream of tourists jostling for a view of this famous Bridge and the Gonolas gliding along underneath it.
